Taiwan Police Shakeup: Two Officers Detained in Bribery and Leak Case

Following the recent detention of two officers in a case involving bribery and the leakage of sensitive information to gaming establishments, the Taipei City Police Department has announced personnel changes. The Taipei District Court ordered the detention of the officers, who were subsequently suspended from their duties.

The Taipei City Police Department has responded by announcing the reassignment of six senior police officers, holding the rank of 2-star, 3-stripe officers. The position of the head of the administrative unit in the Wanhua Precinct remains vacant, however.

The investigation centers around allegations that Wanhua Precinct administrative head and a police officer, whose names are withheld, provided confidential information regarding law enforcement operations to operators of electronic game parlors. The Taipei City Police Department stated on the 2nd of this month that the two officers, having been ordered detained by the Taipei District Court, have been immediately suspended pending the resolution of the case. Should the charges be substantiated, the officers will face dismissal.
