Tragic Discovery in Taichung: Elderly Couple and Son Found Dead

A Routine Welfare Check Uncovers a Devastating Scene in a Taichung Residence.

Taichung City authorities are investigating a heartbreaking incident that occurred this afternoon. The Fifth Precinct of the Taichung Police Department responded to a report from a long-term care center regarding a 70-year-old man, Mr. Zheng, who had not been seen for two days. This raised concerns as he was scheduled for dialysis.

Upon arrival at the residence, police found that Mr. Zheng's sister-in-law had also received a concerning message from her nephew. After the fire department forced entry, they discovered Mr. Zheng, his wife, and their 45-year-old son deceased inside the home. The presence of lividity indicated the individuals had been dead for some time.

The tragic scene unfolded in a residential area of Taichung City's Beitun District. The three family members were found in their beds, their deaths apparent. Authorities found evidence of burned charcoal within the home, and an investigation will determine if any external factors were involved. The police and the judiciary are currently examining the scene and conducting an autopsy to determine the cause and circumstances of the deaths.

The Social Affairs Bureau is also working to determine whether Mr. Zheng's family was considered a high-risk household.
