Water Pipe Dispute Turns Deadly: Man Attacks Neighbor in Taiwan
A seemingly minor disagreement escalates into a brutal assault, leaving one man blinded.

In a shocking incident in Shuangxi District, New Taipei City, a dispute over a water pipe has resulted in a brutal attack. On November 17th, Jian (52) engaged in a heated argument with his neighbor, Lian (69), regarding a water pipe issue between their residences. The disagreement escalated, and Jian reportedly lost control, using a brick from a flowerbed to repeatedly strike Lian on the head.
During the altercation, Lian bit down on Jian’s left arm. In an attempt to free himself, Jian then reportedly attacked Lian's eyes, ultimately removing them. Emergency services were called, but Lian was left permanently blind due to the severity of his injuries. Jian later turned himself in to the police at the Mudan station, admitting to the assault.
Following the investigation by the Ruifang Police Precinct, Jian was charged with attempted murder and transferred to the prosecutor's office. He was later released on bail set at NT$120,000.
