US-China Trade Tensions: Boeing Planes Head Back as Airlines Halt Deliveries in Taiwan

Amidst the ongoing trade tensions between the United States and mainland China, Reuters reported on the 18th that Boeing aircraft that had arrived at a completion plant near Shanghai last month are now returning to the US. This suggests that at least one mainland airline may have halted deliveries due to US tariffs.

Reuters noted that Boeing was preparing to resume normal business operations weeks before US President Donald Trump announced tariffs on April 2nd. Currently, at least four new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft are parked at a completion and delivery center in Zhoushan. Boeing installs interiors and paints the aircraft here before delivering them to mainland Chinese customers.
