Tragedy on Taiwan's Highways: Vietnamese Student Killed in Changhua Freeway Accident

Taipei, April 29 – A Vietnamese national tragically lost his life following a collision on a freeway in Changhua County, Taiwan, early Tuesday morning. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, which involved a truck driven by the deceased.

The incident occurred on National Freeway No. 1. Preliminary reports indicate that the truck, for reasons still under investigation, was stationary in the outer lane when it was struck from behind by a trailer truck. The impact caused the truck to move into the inner lane.

The driver, identified as a 26-year-old Vietnamese national with the last name Nguyen, was found inside the overturned truck. Emergency responders transported him to Show Chwan Memorial Hospital, but despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead.

Further investigation revealed that Nguyen was a student at Chienkuo Technology University (CTU), majoring in mechanical engineering. University officials confirmed that Nguyen was a sophomore and last attended classes on the previous day. CTU also clarified that Nguyen held a legal work permit and a valid truck driving license.

The National Highway Police Bureau is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Nguyen's family in Vietnam has been notified, and an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
