Pink Supercar's Journey: Taiwan's Baishatun Mazu Pilgrimage Set to Commence!

The annual pilgrimage of the Baishatun Mazu, known affectionately as the "Pink Supercar" (粉紅超跑), from the Baishatun Gongtian Temple (拱天宮) in Miaoli County, Taiwan, to the Beigang Chaotian Temple in Yunlin for the Jinxian (進香) religious activity is eagerly anticipated. This year, the departure is scheduled for the early hours of May 2nd, following the ceremonial loading of the Mazu palanquin at 23:25 on May 1st.

To ensure the safety of the participants and maintain traffic flow, law enforcement agencies will implement flexible traffic control measures along the Provincial Highway 1 and the Western Coastal Highway starting at 8:00 AM on May 1st. All participants, often referred to as "Xiang Deng Jiao" (香燈腳) or "incense lamp feet," are requested to cooperate with the regulations.

Authorities encourage the public to utilize public transportation options. Taiwan Railways (台鐵) will offer additional services at Baishatun and Tongxiao stations, while the High-Speed Rail (HSR) will increase services at Miaoli station. Shuttle buses will be available to transport people to Gongtian Temple.
