New Chapter for Banqiao's Huangshi Market: Soft Opening Kicks Off with a Bang!

A significant milestone has been reached in Banqiao, Taiwan, as the long-awaited Huangshi Market commences its soft opening. Located in a prime area, the market underwent redevelopment through a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model, aiming for completion by the end of November last year. However, due to construction delays, the grand opening was pushed back to this year.

The Huangshi Market's official Facebook page announced the soft opening starting today. Yesterday, 摊商 (tānshāng, stallholders) were busy stocking and preparing their goods, and this morning, the market was buzzing with excited customers eager to explore the renovated space.

Construction of the market began on December 8, 2021, resulting in a building that spans three underground levels and nine above-ground floors. The design incorporates a 停车场 (tíngchē chǎng, parking lot) across levels 1 to 3, a retail market on floors 1 and 2, specialty 餐厅 (cāntīng, restaurants) and recreational facilities on floors 3 to 5, a community activity center on the 6th floor, and a hotel from floors 7 to 9. Currently, 29 stalls are open for business, with 3 more in the process of being leased.
