Controversy at Feng Chia University: Professor Accused of Promoting Recall Campaign in Class

A professor at Feng Chia University in Taiwan is under scrutiny following allegations of promoting a political recall campaign during a class session. The incident has sparked debate regarding educational neutrality and the role of educators in political discourse.

The accusations, shared via social media, claim the professor, identified as Ms. Huang, urged students to participate in a recall petition. The post quotes the professor as saying, "Hurry and go to Hualien… only 1,000 signatures needed."

A video circulating online purportedly shows the professor discussing the recall effort, specifically mentioning the situation in Hualien and criticizing an individual's actions, alleging the person is hindering Taiwan's constitutional processes. The professor is quoted as saying, "That person is terrible, they can't even move Taiwan's constitutional court, the grand justices... the most terrible thing is that they want to sell Taiwan," and subsequently urged students from Hualien to assist.

Feng Chia University has issued a statement acknowledging the allegations, stating that the incident, if true, would violate the principle of educational neutrality. The university has initiated an internal investigation and will take appropriate action based on its findings.
