Tragic Collision: Elderly Woman Dies After Striking Police Car During Speed Enforcement in Tainan

A 70-year-old woman, identified as Ms. Su, tragically lost her life in a motorcycle accident in Tainan, Taiwan. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon around 2 PM on Haiwei Road in the Annan District.

Ms. Su, while riding her scooter eastward, reportedly veered into the shoulder of the road. She subsequently collided with the left rear side of a police car that was parked on the shoulder conducting speed enforcement. The impact caused her to fall to the ground, rendering her unconscious.

The on-site police officer, identified as Officer Lee, immediately contacted emergency services. Despite their efforts, Ms. Su showed no vital signs at the scene. She was rushed to a local hospital, but sadly, she was pronounced dead.

The Tainan City Police's Third Precinct confirmed that Officer Lee from a local police station was conducting speed enforcement duties on Haiwei Road at the time of the accident. Preliminary investigations suggest that Ms. Su may not have noticed the police car before the collision. Although the speed of the vehicles was not excessive, the impact resulted in the woman's immediate collapse.

Prosecutors and police are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
