Discover Taiwan: Indigenous Culture Takes Center Stage in Prague
A groundbreaking exhibition in the Czech Republic unveils the vibrant heritage of Taiwan's Indigenous peoples.

Prague, April 16 - A captivating exhibition celebrating the profound cultural heritage and remarkable technical skills of Taiwan's Indigenous peoples has launched at the National Technical Museum in Prague. Co-organized by Taiwan and the Czech Republic, this innovative exhibit offers a unique glimpse into the everyday lives of these communities.
Developed in partnership with the National Taiwan Museum, the exhibit features stunning examples of indigenous craftsmanship, including a magnificent tatala fishing boat, meticulously constructed by Yami (Tao) tribe author Syaman Rapongan, and a traditional hunting hut built by Tsou tribe hunter An Hsiao-ming (安孝明). These impressive works, representing the enduring skills of the Indigenous peoples, will become permanent fixtures in the Czech museum's collection.
Visitors are invited to embark on a journey of discovery, exploring indigenous life through a diverse collection of over 100 artifacts. These include exquisite ceramic figurines, intricate carved ornaments, and essential hunting tools, offering a tangible connection to the past. Interactive displays and virtual reality experiences further enrich the experience, providing immersive insights into indigenous skills in animal tracking, shelter building, and traditional seafaring, enabling visitors to connect with this fascinating culture in an engaging way.
In a pre-recorded message shared at the opening ceremony, Taiwan's Culture Minister Li Yuan (李遠) hailed the exhibition as "the first step to discovering Taiwan." He enthusiastically added, "After seeing it, the next step will be booking a flight to visit our beautiful island," highlighting the exhibition's potential to inspire travel and cultural exchange.
The exhibition will be open to the public until September 28, offering a unique opportunity to delve into the rich tapestry of Taiwan's Indigenous cultures.
