The ongoing trade dispute between the United States and China continues to intensify. On April 15th, the White House released a statement indicating that Chinese goods imported into the US are now subject to tariffs as high as 245% due to China's continued retaliatory measures.

In response, the official Chinese media outlet, the "Niu Dan Qin" WeChat account affiliated with Xinhua News Agency, published an article on April 16th. It labeled the US statement as an "international joke" and a "word game," urging the public not to take it seriously.

The "Niu Dan Qin" article pointed out that the White House website outlined Trump's latest tariff policy, stating that on "Liberation Day" (April 2nd), tariffs of 10% were imposed on all countries. More than 75 countries have already contacted the US to discuss new trade agreements. However, "because China does not yield, a maximum import tariff of 245% is levied on Chinese goods."
