High-Speed Rail Boosts Access to Yunlin: New Direct Trains Commence!

Starting today, Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) is implementing a temporary increase in service, adding 17 weekly train runs. This expansion is in direct response to growing demand in Yunlin County, where a large number of residents frequently travel. The announcement was made by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Legislator 劉建國 (Liu Jian-guo), who highlighted the challenges faced by passengers during holidays, when tickets for Yunlin Station are often scarce.

Recognizing the need, three of the fast, direct southbound trains will now stop at Yunlin Station. THSR has committed to prioritizing Yunlin's passenger needs when adjusting future schedules.

The decision follows a coordination meeting held last Friday by 劉建國 (Liu Jian-guo), in conjunction with 馬惠明 (Ma Hui-ming), the Director of National Taiwan University Hospital Yunlin Branch. They addressed the growing transportation needs of the region, particularly considering the recent upgrade of the hospital to a quasi-medical center in March. This upgrade has significantly increased the travel needs of patients and their families, making the expansion of rail service even more crucial. The addition of direct trains will ease the stress on both residents and those visiting the medical facility.
