Mandarin Airlines Takes Flight: New Weekly Route Connects Kaohsiung to Taiwan's Matsu Islands

Taipei, April 15 - Exciting news for travelers! Mandarin Airlines, a subsidiary of China Airlines, is set to launch a new weekly service connecting Kaohsiung and Nangan, one of the stunning Matsu Islands located off the coast of southeastern China, starting in June.

The airline announced Tuesday that tickets are now available for the inaugural flights, which will begin on June 6th. This new route promises convenient access to the unique charm of Matsu, a rapidly growing destination for both domestic and international tourists.

Flights will depart from Kaohsiung International Airport every Friday at 11:15 a.m., arriving at Nangan Airport at 12:55 p.m. The return flight will leave Nangan at 1:40 p.m., touching down in Kaohsiung at 3:20 p.m.

This new service expands upon Mandarin Airlines' existing daily flights to Nangan from Taipei's Songshan Airport, a route launched in 2023, providing more options for travelers eager to explore the Matsu Islands.

Mandarin Airlines highlighted Matsu's growing popularity, attributing its appeal to the islands' unique natural beauty, rich local folklore, compelling military history, and the captivating "blue tears" phenomenon.

The "blue tears" are a mesmerizing display of bioluminescence created by microorganisms, illuminating the sea in a vibrant, fluorescent blue, typically visible from April to June. This natural wonder, combined with the islands' other attractions, makes Matsu a truly unforgettable travel experience.
