American Lawyer in Taiwan Faces Sexual Assault Charges: A Case of Betrayal and Legal Turmoil

An American lawyer, identified as Matt (Matthew Cook Bernstein), is facing serious legal charges in Taiwan following an alleged sexual assault incident. The incident involves two Taiwanese lawyers, adding another layer of complexity to the case.

According to the investigation, Matt, a specialist in patent litigation with a substantial reputation in Taiwan's legal circles, was dining with Chen, a lawyer from the same firm. Chen invited Cai, another lawyer from a well-known firm, to join the meal. Cai, in turn, brought along a close friend.

The evening took a dark turn when Cai's friend became intoxicated. Subsequently, Matt, along with the two lawyers Chen and Cai, are accused of assisting Matt in taking the victim back to a hotel-style apartment, where the alleged sexual assault occurred. The Taipei District Prosecutors Office has now concluded its investigation and filed charges against Matt and the other two lawyers, citing charges of sexual assault.
