Taiwan's Digital Diplomacy: YouTubers Amplify Taiwan's Global Presence with Millions of Views
MOFA's Strategic Campaign Showcases Taiwan's Beauty and Culture, Driving Massive Online Engagement

Taipei, Taiwan - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced that a recent promotional campaign inviting international YouTubers to Taiwan has yielded remarkable results, generating over 35 million views across various social media platforms.
Catherine Hsu (徐詠梅), head of MOFA's Department of International Information Services, revealed that the ministry hosted internet personalities from diplomatic allies Paraguay and Guatemala, along with creators from the Czech Republic and Israel, for a week-long tour from March 16th to 22nd.
The visiting YouTubers experienced the best of Taiwan, including the iconic Taipei 101 Building, the historic Dadaocheng district, and the stunning landscapes of Hualien County. They immersed themselves in Taiwanese aboriginal culture, cuisine, and tea culture.
The YouTubers from Paraguay and Guatemala enjoyed Guatemalan coffee and Paraguayan beef rolls with Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍), fostering cultural exchange.
Meanwhile, the Czech and Israeli YouTubers joined Deputy Foreign Minister François Wu (吳志中) at the Taipei Mandarin Experimental Elementary School, where they learned about a pen pal program with an Israeli school and enjoyed a performance by the school's Chinese orchestra, featuring traditional Czech music.
During and after the visit, the four YouTubers published over 200 social media posts, collectively amassing over 35 million views. This data reinforces the success of MOFA's strategy to use online influencers to promote Taiwan internationally.
Hsu emphasized that MOFA plans to continue this successful initiative. The goal is to reach audiences beyond traditional media and to increase awareness and understanding of Taiwan, particularly among younger generations.
