Tragic Incident in Taiwan: Mother Suspected in Murder-Suicide of Children

Taipei, Taiwan - A devastating incident has unfolded in Miaoli County, leaving a community in shock and prompting an investigation into a suspected murder-suicide. On Monday, authorities responded to a call at an apartment building in Toufen City, where they discovered a scene of unimaginable tragedy.

First responders from the Miaoli County Fire Bureau found a 9-year-old boy and an 8-month-old girl deceased in a bedroom. Their mother, a woman in her 30s identified as Wu (吳), was found alive but critically injured, with slash wounds on her neck and wrists, and a knife lodged in her chest.

Paramedics immediately attended to Wu's injuries and transported her to a local hospital for treatment. Her injuries are considered non-life-threatening.

According to sources, the woman's husband had recently moved out of the residence. Upon returning to the home on Monday, he discovered the grim scene and immediately contacted emergency services.

Police, who are now investigating the case, have stated that no suicide note or any indication of burned charcoal was found at the scene. Autopsies will be conducted to determine the cause of death for the two children, as stated by the Miaoli police.
