Taiwan's Hand Tool Exports to the US Dominate, Says Industry Leader: "America Should Be Worried!"

A Taiwanese manufacturer confidently navigates the complexities of US tariffs, highlighting the nation's dominance in the hand tool market.

The recent imposition of a 32% tariff by the United States on Taiwanese hand tools has sparked concerns. However, for some in Taiwan, the situation presents an opportunity. Taiwan's hand tool industry sees approximately 50% of its exports going to the US. While the imposition of high tariffs may have an impact on the industry, especially in the central city of Taichung, where 70% of the hand tool manufacturers are concentrated.

Wu Yi-jui, Chairman of the renowned storage solutions company, 樹德企業 (Shuter Enterprise), isn't particularly worried. He emphasizes that Taiwan is the exporter, implying that the burden of these tariffs primarily falls on American importers and consumers. He further points out that Taiwan's main competitors are also subject to high tariffs. Given that the US is not a significant producer of these tools, he doubts that the 32% tariff will remain unchanged, anticipating potential adjustments.

樹德企業 (Shuter Enterprise) is known for its wide range of industrial storage products, celebrated for their "German-level quality at competitive prices." The company is also recognized for its large-scale tourist factory "Half Mountain Dream Factory" located in Nantou. Wu Yi-jui also serves as a director of the Taiwan Hand Tool Industry Association.
