In a resolute message to the nation, President Lai Ching-te addressed the Taiwanese public through an 8-minute video released today. He emphasized the robust resilience of Taiwan's economy and underscored the importance of a collaborative approach between the public and private sectors to mitigate any potential impact. President Lai urged citizens not to panic, assuring them of the government's proactive stance.

Specifically, President Lai stated that Taiwan has no plans to retaliate with reciprocal tariffs in response to potential US "equal tariffs." Furthermore, he confirmed that any investment commitments made by Taiwanese businesses to the United States would remain unchanged, provided they align with Taiwan's national interests.

According to Presidential Office spokesperson 郭雅慧 (Kuo Ya-hui), President Lai convened a second business roundtable at his residence today, bringing together over a dozen representatives from traditional industries and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The discussions focused on strategies to address the evolving domestic and international economic landscape. The video statement followed this important meeting, signaling the government's commitment to transparency and its preparedness to tackle economic challenges head-on.
