Trump's Trade Moves: Targeting Taiwan's Chip Manufacturing?

Following the announcement of reciprocal tariffs by former U.S. President Donald Trump, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross stated that the strategy aims to boost domestic manufacturing capabilities, including potentially repatriating semiconductor manufacturing currently concentrated in Taiwan.

During an interview on CNBC's "Squawk Box" on the 3rd, Wilbur Ross noted that although semiconductors are not included in the announced reciprocal tariffs, Trump is still exploring strategies for the U.S. to regain a prominent position in the chip manufacturing sector. This suggests a long-term vision that extends beyond immediate tariff impacts, potentially affecting Taiwan's crucial role in the global semiconductor supply chain.
