Trump's Tariffs Shake Up Asia's Manufacturing Hub: Two Taiwanese Giants Poised to Thrive
As Tariffs Reshape Global Trade, Hon Hai and Quanta May Weather the Storm.

The imposition of "reciprocal tariffs" by former U.S. President Trump is poised to significantly impact Asia's manufacturing sector. Economists anticipate that central banks across the region may resort to further interest rate cuts to mitigate the economic repercussions of these increased tariffs. Southeast Asian economies, facing tariffs ranging from 32% to 49%, are expected to be among the hardest hit, potentially leading to significant disruption within their supply chains.
However, analysts are projecting that two prominent Taiwanese manufacturers, Hon Hai Group and Quanta Computer, are well-positioned to navigate these challenging market conditions.
According to a report in the Financial Times (FT), analysts believe that major Asian manufacturers, including Hon Hai Group, the world's largest iPhone manufacturer, and Quanta Computer, a leading producer of laptops and servers, possess the capabilities to withstand the impact of Trump's "Liberation Day" tariffs. These manufacturers, having already diversified their production facilities into Southeast Asia, Mexico, and the United States since the implementation of Trump's initial tariffs against China in 2018, are now actively expanding their manufacturing presence in the U.S.
