In a devastating incident that has shaken the community, a newborn baby was discovered abandoned in a cardboard box near an abandoned residence in Budai Township, Chiayi County, Taiwan. The infant, estimated to be full-term at 47 centimeters in length, was found deceased, with signs of discoloration and a cut umbilical cord.

The local police initiated an immediate investigation and were able to locate the infant's mother, a woman in her twenties. However, her emotional state has prevented her from providing a clear account of the events leading to the baby's passing.

A preliminary examination was conducted, revealing several unanswered questions. Further examination will be performed by the prosecutor. An autopsy is scheduled for April 9th at the Chiayi Municipal Funeral Home to determine the precise cause of death. Authorities are prioritizing the protection of the young woman involved while diligently working to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragedy and providing more information in the future.
