Taiwan's Ruling Party Ousts Member Amid Espionage Allegations
The Democratic Progressive Party Takes Swift Action Following National Security Breach

In a concerning development for Taiwan, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has taken decisive action following allegations of espionage. The case involves He Renjie, an individual reportedly connected to a national security breach.
He Renjie, who served as an assistant to National Security Council Secretary-General Wu Zhaoxie when he was Minister of Foreign Affairs, is currently under detention, facing charges under the National Security Act. Reports indicate that He is from Yilan County and had been a member of the DPP for 13 years.
The DPP's Yilan County chapter convened an emergency meeting and decided to expel He Renjie, the most severe penalty. This action permanently bars He from rejoining the party.
Described as a mysterious figure in local circles, the 43-year-old He Renjie, a graduate of Soochow University's political science program, joined the DPP in Yilan in 2012. Despite his lengthy membership, many senior DPP figures in the area were unfamiliar with him. The county chapter's executive and disciplinary committees held a joint meeting to address the situation. The meeting concluded with the confirmation of He Renjie's expulsion from the party.
