Abandoned Shiba Inus: A Shocking Case of Mass Abandonment in Taiwan

A disturbing case of mass abandonment involving Shiba Inus has unfolded in Taiwan, specifically impacting the areas of Hsinchu and Miaoli.

Beginning yesterday, unknown individuals were reported to have abandoned numerous Shiba Inus along Provincial Highway 118, starting in Guanxi and Xinpu, Hsinchu County, and extending southwards to Toufen and Zhunan in Miaoli County. The Taiwan-based Stray Animals Precious Love Association received multiple reports and initiated an urgent rescue operation.

The Hsinchu County Animal Protection and Quarantine Office has already taken in eight of the abandoned Shiba Inus. Authorities suspect the abandonment may be linked to illegal breeding operations.

Concerned citizens alerted Hsinchu County Councilor Zhu Jianming, who is a long-time advocate for animal welfare. Following the reports, Zhu Jianming, along with the Stray Animals Precious Love Association, investigated the situation and confirmed the presence of vehicles discarding the dogs along the route.
