Tragedy Strikes in Taoyuan: Missing Worker Found in Nankan River After Flash Flood

A devastating incident unfolded this morning in Taoyuan, Taiwan, as torrential downpours and flash floods swept away a worker, identified as Mr. Deng, while he was conducting sewer cable maintenance in the Bade District. Despite an extensive search by the Taoyuan City Fire Department along the Pi-liao and Chiadong creeks, the worker remained missing.

Tragically, a body was discovered this evening in the Nankan River, approximately 30 kilometers from the initial incident, in the Dayuan District. The body was confirmed by the owner of an environmental company to be that of the missing Mr. Deng.

The 119 Emergency Command Center received a report at 5:47 PM this evening, stating that a man was found floating in the Nankan River near Xixi Road, number 735, in the Dayuan District. The Fire Department immediately dispatched 17 rescue personnel with 5 fire engines and 2 ambulances from the Zhuwei Squad of the Third Rescue and Ambulance Brigade to the scene.
