Admiral Samuel Paparo, the commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, has reiterated the importance of creating a "hellscape" to deter potential Chinese aggression against Taiwan. He emphasized that the United States is actively enhancing autonomous systems for deployment in the Taiwan Strait, a strategy he believes will significantly raise the costs for any potential invasion.

During a hearing before the US House Armed Services Committee on "Military Posture in the Indo-Pacific Region and Challenges to National Security," Admiral Paparo noted that Taiwan is currently undertaking related investments aligned with the US strategy. This collaboration underscores the shared commitment to deterring China. He also warned that Beijing's pressure campaign against Taiwan intensified last year, increasing by 300%.

Representative Scott DesJarlais questioned Admiral Paparo during the hearing.
