Honduras Eyes Re-Entry into Taiwan's Market After Shrimp Export Collapse
Following Diplomatic Break, Honduras Seeks to Revive Shrimp Industry by Re-Engaging with Taiwan.

Following its severing of diplomatic ties with Taiwan in 2023, Honduras's white shrimp industry has suffered a near collapse due to the loss of the Taiwanese market. Enrique Reina, the Honduran Foreign Minister, publicly stated on the 31st of the month that the Honduran government is actively seeking to re-engage with the Taiwan market to salvage the struggling shrimp industry.
In an interview with Honduran media outlet "RadioAmerica," Reina explained that the government is exploring ways to "re-establish" contact with the Taiwan market. This is in response to the difficulty in accessing the Chinese market, and is seen as a crucial step to revive the white shrimp industry. Additionally, Honduras hopes to collaborate with South Korea to obtain necessary health permits for imports.
