Grand Opening! Taiwan's Newly Rebuilt Guan Gao Mountain Hut in Yushan National Park

The Yushan National Park is thrilled to announce the completion and imminent opening of the newly rebuilt Guan Gao Mountain Hut! Following severe damage from Typhoon Morakot 16 years ago, the original mountain hut has been meticulously reconstructed, marking a significant milestone for outdoor enthusiasts in Taiwan.

Following the open mountain policy, the Yushan National Park Headquarters (玉管處) began planning the construction of a mid-sized mountain hut in 2019. Construction commenced two years ago and has recently been completed, allowing for a soft opening beginning tomorrow, the 1st of [Month]. The new Guan Gao Mountain Hut will initially accommodate up to 28 guests, with park staff already stationed to provide operational support and services.

Situated at an altitude of approximately 2540 meters, the Guan Gao area is strategically located 14.6 kilometers along the western section of the Batongguan Cross-Ridge Trail. It serves as a crucial overnight stop for those embarking on challenging long-distance trails, including the South Second Section (南二段線), the Mabo Traverse Line (馬博橫斷線), the Batongguan Cross-Ridge Trail (八通關越嶺線), and the Eight Great Peaks Line (八大秀線).

The original Guan Gao Mountain Hut was rendered unusable in September 2010 due to damage sustained during the devastating Typhoon Morakot in 2009, which caused significant subsidence of the structure's foundation.
