A tragic incident unfolded this afternoon near the renowned Longteng Bridge (Dragon's Bridge) in Sanyi Township, Miaoli County, Taiwan. A construction project constructing new roads experienced a significant soil collapse around 4 PM, resulting in a worker being buried alive. The victim was identified as a 70-year-old construction worker, Mr. Chen.

Rescue teams immediately mobilized, working tirelessly to excavate and locate the missing worker. After an intensive search, the worker's body was discovered at approximately 6 PM. Unfortunately, Mr. Chen was confirmed deceased at the scene. Due to the position of the body, with his legs still trapped under the rubble, rescuers utilized excavators to carefully loosen surrounding soil, allowing for a safe extraction. The worker’s body was then secured and lifted using a rigid backboard.

Mr. Chen’s passing was confirmed on-site, and his remains were not transported to a hospital. The situation will be handled with the family members. Image provided by a source shows the tragic incident.
