National Taipei First Girls' High School Principal Addresses Controversy Following Teacher's Remarks

Following recent comments by a teacher, Qu Kuei-chih, from the National Taipei First Girls' High School (commonly known as Beiyi), a former student and author, Chiu Mei-chen, published an open letter addressed to Principal Chen Chih-yuan. The letter requested that Principal Chen issue a statement clarifying that Qu's opinions did not reflect the views of all teachers, students, and alumni of Beiyi.

In response, Principal Chen Chih-yuan posted on Facebook this morning, stating, "To the netizens: Do not assume that I will publicly respond to anything, because some things, I will only say to the students."

Chiu Mei-chen acknowledged and understood the reasons why Principal Chen could not provide a public response. She further indicated a desire to let the matter rest, citing her commitment to protecting the school's reputation, a sentiment she distinguished from that of the aforementioned Chinese language teacher.
