Tragedy in Taiwan: Elderly Man Charged with Murder After Wife's Fatal Fall

In a deeply heartbreaking case unfolding in New Taipei City, Taiwan, a seventy-year-old man, identified as Lin, has been charged with murder after his wife's fatal fall from their 14th-floor apartment. The incident occurred on the morning of December 9th, and Lin subsequently 自首 (surrendered) to the authorities.

The New Taipei District Prosecutors Office has indicted Lin on charges of murder. The case will be decided by a national judge in the New Taipei District Court.

Lin, a retired architect, and his 邱姓 (Qiu) wife, had enjoyed a comfortable life, traveling and pursuing photography. However, approximately three years ago, Qiu was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, an incurable condition. Her health steadily declined, leading to a loss of balance, incontinence, personality changes, and cognitive impairment. The decline in health forced Qiu to become bedridden.
