Millions Left Unattended on a Taiwan Sidewalk: A Mystery Unfolds

An extraordinary scene unfolded on a sidewalk in Tainan, Taiwan, where a significant sum of money, approximately NT$6 million, was left unattended. The incident, shared on social media, depicted six large stacks of cash placed on the pavement near the Yongkang market. Passersby, witnessing the unusual display, paused to observe but refrained from touching the money. Ultimately, authorities were alerted to the situation.

Upon the arrival of the police, the man responsible, identified as Mr. Li, stated that he had left the money out to "air" it because it had been stored for too long and had developed mold. After some persuasive discussion from the officers, concerned about the potential risks involved, Mr. Li agreed to deposit the funds back into his bank account.

Bystanders and local vendors observed the unusual situation, seemingly accustomed to the eccentric behavior. A friend of Mr. Li's explained that he has been dealing with the police and had been in an unstable state recently, often creating unusual situations that would require police intervention. The friend requested public understanding and patience regarding the matter.
