Tragedy on Alishan Trails: Hiker Found Unresponsive on Ancient Path

A hiker, separated from her group, was discovered unresponsive on the Alishan National Scenic Area's historic trail, leading to a tragic outcome.

A distressing incident unfolded on the trails of Alishan National Scenic Area in Taiwan when a solo female hiker was discovered unresponsive on the Tefuye Ancient Trail. Four other hikers were trekking on the same path when they came upon the woman. Despite immediate attempts to assist and the swift arrival of emergency services, the hiker could not be revived.

Authorities have confirmed that the woman was part of a group of hikers but had become separated from them during their trek. She was discovered by the other hikers near the 4.2-kilometer mark of the trail. Law enforcement has opened an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.

The Chiayi County Zhuchi Police Precinct reported that they received a call at approximately 11:43 AM regarding the incident. The four hikers who discovered the woman had entered the Tefuye Ancient Trail from the Zizhong trailhead earlier that morning. The incident serves as a poignant reminder of the inherent risks associated with outdoor activities and the importance of hiking in groups.
