Taiwan Strengthens Security: Orders Chinese Influencers Advocating Forceful Unification to Leave
Taipei takes decisive action against individuals promoting unification by force, reinforcing its sovereignty.

In a move underscoring its commitment to national security, Taiwan has revoked the residence permits of two China-based influencers. The decision, announced by the National Immigration Agency (NIA), stems from their open advocacy for China's forceful unification of Taiwan.
The NIA confirmed that Xiao Wei and En Qi are now legally required to depart Taiwan. The agency's decision follows consultations with relevant government bodies overseeing cross-strait affairs. These actions reflect a commitment to upholding the Act Governing Relations between the People of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area, which allows for deportation when an individual is deemed a threat to national or social stability.
This action builds upon a similar decision made last week regarding another Chinese national. This individual had also been openly advocating for China's unification of Taiwan by force through social media channels, and was ordered to leave the country. The NIA's swift and decisive approach sends a clear message.
The NIA has intensified investigations into these cases, gathering evidence and providing the individuals an opportunity to respond. The agency's actions, aligned with Taiwan's legal framework, demonstrate a firm resolve to safeguard its sovereignty and stability.
Specifically, the NIA cited examples of the influencers' online content. Xiao Wei had shared videos promoting the idea of China's dominance, while En Qi had posted content supporting the People's Liberation Army and claiming Taiwan's integration with China.
The NIA further clarified that these individuals are barred from reapplying for family-based and long-term residence permits for the next five years. The revocation and deportation orders underscore Taiwan's dedication to protecting its interests.
